Vision
To make district agriculture sustainable, profitable and competitive enterprise through engineering interventions of farm mechanization, value addition and energy management in production and post harvest operations.

Mission
To popularize need-based and region-specific engineering technologies to achieve sustainable enhanced productivity and profitability of different farming systems.

Mandate
To serve as an information repository in Agricultural Engineering for the farmers/rural youth and officials of various departments of state government associated with agriculture and allied disciplines.
Thrust Areas

Main emphasis of Engineering Wing of KVK Bahowal (Hoshiarpur) is:

Judicious and balanced use of natural resources and other agricultural inputs.

Popularization of precision farming for efficient and judicious use of agricultural inputs like seed, fertilizer, pesticides, insecticides etc.

Popularization of efficient harvesting, threshing and post harvest management machinery.

Mechanization of vegetables, horticulture, oilseeds & pulses during planting/ transplanting, interculture, spraying, pruning, picking and harvesting.

Resource conservation and residue management

Management of water resources through artificial groundwater recharge techniques.

Efficient utilization of irrigation water.

Sprinkler and drip irrigation system

Development of economically viable, energy efficient, environmentally appropriate and socially acceptable equipments/ processes/ technologies/ systems for:

Reduction in post harvest losses and value-addition of farm produce/products.

Efficient utilization of agricultural waste/ by-products

To popularize the techniques in the area of cleaning, grading, drying, packaging, handling and storage of agricultural products, by-product utilization and environmental control suiting to farmers and food industries.

To disseminate the technologies/ equipments/ processes to the farmers/ entrepreneurs/rural youth/state departments/private organizations for generation of employment by setting up agro based industries/ agro complexes for value addition of agricultural commodities.

To transfer the successful technology and the scientific information on energy applications & management in agricultural sector through demonstrations & other extension programmes.
