Horticulture sector, which includes, fruits, vegetables, root and tuber crops, mushroom, floriculture etc. has proved to be the diversification for land use. The sector has established it’s credibility for improving productivity of land generating more employment than agriculture, improving economic condition of the farmers and entrepreneurs, enhancing export and above all providing nutritional security to the people. The of scientist of KVK are entrust the extension work on all the aspects of Horticulture. This approach has drastically improved the quality and quantum of adoption of different improved technologies in this sector. Latest information relating to various aspects of horticulture for the benefit of farmer and extension workers is cater to them in form of trainings, OFT’s and FLD’s. The all efforts result in increase in area and production of horticultural crops in the district Hoshiarpur.
